52 meter Brontos like this are operated by very few European fire services and - as we learned recently after the disastrous London Grenfell Tower fire - by none in the UK.

Generally, North American, Japanese and most European fire services mainly rely on high rise building and fire codes to make units like this unnecessary, but our Swiss friends seem generally to have a reputation for being ready for anything!

By contrast, in the Middle East and other Third World countries, where high rise building and fire codes are often lax, many city brigades operate giant aerial platforms and towers like this out of necessity!

But incidents still occur in European cities where they could have come in useful, such as the recent fire at Notre Dame de Paris as well as Grenfell.
