Merseyside Fire & Rescue - BA Support Unit

One of Merseyside's latest Prime Movers - a Scania P280, carrying the BA Support Unit pod. This is based at Kirkdale Fire Station north of Liverpool city centre.

Kirkdale Fire Station must be one of if not the bigist Fire Station in the country having Two Pump IRU Three prime movers and at least ten pods.

As far as I know the pods and maybe the PMs are in garages at the back. Of course how many can be crewed is another matter.

The pods and prime movers are kept in the bays you can see in the picture. you are right they are at the rear of the station. As for crew some are on a recall to duty system.

Hi Andy! The first batch of primemovers in Stockholm, Sweden, had 2 axels.The installed a third axle in front of the driveaxel, ´cos they discovered, that the pods was to heavy.
