This is a Ward LaFrance built for the US military in 1954. The USAF called it a 750A. 750 gpm pump and 500 gal. water.

Early 1950's Ward LaFrance 750A. Large numbers of these were built for the US Air Force. They carried 750 GPM pumps, 175 gallon water tanks and 40 gallon foam tanks.

This is a Ward 750 GPM pumper nicknamed The crackerbox by the USAF , probably withdrawn in the mid 70s.

Not too difficult to figure out the reason for the nickname! Reminds me of the famous Bedford "brick" water tenfder in later years, which also looked like the box it came in...
