Hi Chris,
Have you any other photos of the Rescue Pump Platform? Very interested to see what it looks like from another angle.

Hi Dermot, sorry the only other pic of the "platform" is picture 35641. These seem to be becoming a standard Kent thing as I know Maidstone have one as well, I've yet to see it in use.

Hi Chris, Thanks for that! I know what it is now. There is one on the run with County Cavan FRS in Ireland. Very similar in design to Kent's.

Hi Guys, I've never heard of a rescue pump platform, sounds like a brilliant concept, is there anywhere on the net where we may be able to view the platform erected, thanks.

Right Chaps, the Kent Fire & Rescue Service take on this is as follow's :- Rescue Pump Platform (RPP) A new type (2008) of appliance carries everything a Rescue Pump Ladder carries, ( LPP, selection of delivery hose, 4 BA sets, 2 hose reels, First-Aid kit & defib, 10m Ladder, 7m ladder, Roof Ladder, Rescue chocks & Blocks, chimney fire-fighting kit, Beaters, Fire Extingushers, Hydraulic ram & cutters(Jaws of Life), Water Rescue Suits for water first responding, Thermal Image Camara), Except the 13.5m ladder instead it houses a dedicated rescue platform for gaining access to HGV cabs and use on uneven ground. The list of Stations who have them is Ashford, Maidstone, Canterbury, Medway, Thames-Side and Dartford. However this may be wrong as Ashford isn't on the list But most deffinatly has one, and runs a RPL as well not a Pump (as it says on the list of appliances).

Interesting to see the difference in height between the pumps and the TL. The TL looks almost toy like in comparison.

To add to the list of Stations with a RPP is Folkstone, who's RPP I've got a rear pic of and didn't realise! As for the TL, (not ALP as I've mistakenly labled it), Kent were one of the few British Brigades that Bought these low height Magirus appliances, they're more common on the continent.

The Dennis sabre is a pump not a rescue pump its manned by retained fire fighters.

Hi Adam the Dennis Sabre has been replaced by a Scania P280/JDC. Which I'm sure was running around with a 13.5m ladder on it.

Anyone know what will placed at the new Ramsgate fire station when the height vehicle is withdrawn from Thanet stations?

I don't think they have found land to replace the station as it's got to be near to the existing station as the part time firefighters have to respond with in 5 mins. But there will be a whole time and part time pump and the height vehicle

Thanks Adam, local paper and KFB website show new station site/plans as the old Ramsgate swimming pool, only wholetime pump (upto 8 fire fighters)and on call 2nd pump mentioned, height vehicle subject to the annual November review officials say, Regards.

The 2 new air/sea rescue helicopters should be in place at Manston to coincide with Ramsgates new fire station, an ideal solution to any downgrading of height vehicle attendance in Thanet, not that the tls/hps can reach the top of tower blocks anyway.

Using a helecopter in a high rise fire will kill people, look into what happened at the fire in Arlington House in Margate when an RAF Sea King turned up!!

Kent don't have a carp anymore they sold it because it was rubbish and kept going wrong all the time and there are no plans to buy a new one

The on trial new slimline Iveco pump has been at thanet training station this week, it dos, nt look MAN enough for wholetime frontline use I, d say.

Yes Les, vehicles being trialled by KFB for retained stations initially I, m reliably informed, they, ve been on the continent for years, guess KFB got a deal for a job lot of new ones, and with Annes 3 man crews it, ll be back to the old Dennis D days.

16reg Iveco now on the run at Margate as 2nd pump replacing the ex Horton Kirby Volvo, its if is probably the one that was stored at Thanet, The new Ramsgate station works are underway at the old swimming pool site.

Good info Thank You, if that new Iveco pump stays at Margate it will the first non hand me down pump the on call section have had for 36 years, the last being MKE923W Rs Dennis in 1980.
