Dennis f8 Leeds City Fire BrigadeThis photo was taken about 1965. I took this as a young lad at the Leeds Central Fire Station, then in Park Street (now the site of the Courts complex).
Leeds Central then had two f8s, a Dennis f12 Pump Escape, a Magirus turntable ladder on a Dennis chassis, and, parked in a bay at the back of the station, a strange-looking Emergency Tender. It looked old then; I tried to take a photo but my camera jammed.
All the engines (except the f12 I think) had sirens, and the two f8s had an early form of blue flashing light as can just about be seen, above the 'Fire' sign. Were the sirens and blue lights fitted by the Brigade itself, as I think the engines left the Dennis factory with just bells?
