This shows the pickup "Fetch" installation on the front of the rig, which is I believe a British Angus innovation.

The primary purpose of this unit is of course to lay large diameter hose for water relaying, to overcome problems of water supply where the water source is far distant from the incident.

This can usually be done at a fair speed, but picking up and restocking the hoses after use was for years a very labor and time consuming process.

Now, the "Fetch" can be operated by only three crew including the driver, and the hose can be properly restowed much more quickly. Brilliant!
