This multi function heavy pump, tanker and rescue unit has a nine person cab, largely because it is operated by a volunteer fire company. Large crew cabs are quite common in many countries among volunteer fire companies in both North and South America, as well as in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Their ability to assemble a large crew makes it easier to insure that the full capacities and capabilities of units like this can be completely exploited, as and when necessary. Chile has an all volunteer fire service, including the capital city with a metropolitan population of 6.8 million.
