Was this the first Bronto in the UK? Noticeable that this has a Carmichael body but I thought AngloCo were the Bronto agent originally.

Interesting. I just found this picture of the same machine where it is badged Angloco not Carmichael.
Can anybody explain?

Carmichael imported the first Bronto into Britain as far back as 1986 and this was a HP for Leicestershire mounted upon a Shelvoke & Drewry chassis. Kent I think became the next customer for the Finnish made equipment when they placed an order for 3 Scania based ALPs at the Fire 87 event at Bristol where there was an example on display. There was also a machine in use as a demonstrator for about 2 years before being inherited by Cheshire wearing the registration E717SON. Angloco took the franchise in around 1989 and their first example was destined for Gloucestershire mounted on a DAF2500 Chassis with subsequent units mainly on Volvo and Scania for Merseyside and a few Scottish brigades supplied by Angloco thereafterwards. It is understood that Angloco had agreed to service the Kent and Cheshire Scanias at their Batley premises despite them being supplied through Carmichael.
