Photo 3/3 Ford V8 1955 model of the Papatoetoe Volunteer Fire Brigade, Auckland, New Zealand. Machine is now fully restored and will be on display at the Museum of Transport and Technology, in Western Springs, Auckland, New Zealand. In its day this appliance was a fast responder for the Brigade that covered a heavily populated area of South Auckland, including considerable industrial and commercial district.

Man, this Fire Truck looks so much North American, even down to the nick-name painted on the hood (bonnet) and the back-ground trees.

Like the guard, protecting the Pump Gauges.

Pav, if you had blurred out the Licence Plate - you would have really made it difficult.

From the Antipodes, yet....

Regards, from Canada,

I once owned one of these, identical, until a great Canterbury wind storm in 1974 which bought down a very large Gum tree right accross the cab. Totally munted the vehicle which had only 12.000 miles on the clock.

Murray, thanks for that, are you able to enlighten us further and /or add some photos, as this was I believe a unique vehicle in the history of the New Zealand Fire Brigades, , , ,
