This PLymouth Fury was the standard NYPD patrol unit as well as being used by FDNY at that time.
This looks just like the police version, including the "nerf bars" on the front bumper; these were commonly used to shove disabled vehicles out of the traffic lanes. (Not very sophisticated, but quite effective).
Of course, the paint job is not the police white over light blue, which was standard then, but it is just as equally not the FDNY standard white over red either.
