New Zealand Dennis BattlecabOne of twenty appliances built in New Zealand with the NZFS safety design cab (known locally as "battlecabs") on a Dennis DF135 chassis (nineteen as pumps with one as a heavy rescue tender) between 1985 & 1986. All the pumping appliances such as this 1985 example were completed by Mills Tui. This appliance was new to Nelson before eventually finishing up with the training centre at Woolston. Following withdrawal from service it was donated to the Fire Service Historical Society. Currently stored at the condemned Woolston fire station where it was photographed in April 2013 it is hoped to have permanent covered storage shortly.
Most of these appliances have now been withdrawn from service although some have gone on to work with industrial fire brigades.
