New Zealand ERF FS5279

Although twenty-three ERF appliances (including aerials) entered service in New Zealand, only four retained all aluminium rear bodywork such as this 1972 example that was new to Christchurch before ending its operational life with the Brightwater rural fire force near Nelson. Now part of the Ferrymead museum collection it is unfortunately suffering the ravages of the weather and is stored behind the condemned Woolston fire station although hopefully covered storage will be sorted shortly. It was photographed in April 2013.

David, on the subject of ladders again, I'd have thought an investment such as the one shown here, would have been serviced and placed on a more recent addition to the fleet? Has ladder policy changed in any way, thanks.

I believe this ladder was condemned. Interestingly the 464 ladder is slowly being phased out - of the 37 Scania P310 heavy pumps in service with the NZ Fire Service (the standard pump for major urban areas) only 5 carry the 464 ladder.
