The F125 low profile chassis was introduced several years after ERF started selling their custom Snorkel chassis, and as a result only very few were sold. ERF had a lot of time to cash in on the Snorkel craze without much competition!

The F125 copied the ERF in that the low height was achieved by mounting the engine behind the front axle. This followed a design first introduced by American La France in the late 1940s, which became the norm for almost all US custom fire apparatus manufacturers in the 1950s and 1960s...
