i was at the college the week after they took delivery of this their then pride and joy when it went in fire whilst an exercise was taking place on a hot July day , cant remember why it self combusted but it certainly did , damage confined to plastics so probably a filter issue, i am sure it replace a Commer vas ex Perth and Kinross fire brigade emergency tender which was I think around 1964 in year , has anyone any photos of that I wonder?

They have purchased all new appliances the last few years until a couple of years ago. They got some older fluorescent Scanias from Grampian. They also have a couple of newer small MAN rural type appliances

I posted a pic of the SFSC MAN (picture 23761) a while back. I thought this was the newest vehicle in the fleet at Gullane, as occasionally I see their pumps heading back to Gullane from L&B training centre at Fillyside Road and it`s always either the 04 MAN or Y reg series 4 scania I seem to see.

I remember there being a 'Y' reg Scania pump which was about the best pump going at the time I was there and it was a scrabble to try and get it for drills but my squad always seem to end up with one of the old Dodge's which reeked and smoked like hell. I wonder what will befall the college now we have one big FRS and multiple ' state of the art ' training facilities.
