Chicago fire department Ladder Co 6 along with a fire department ambulance photographed at an incident in November 2012. Another interesting aspect of Chicago fire appliances apart from the black over red on the cab is the colour of the flashing warning beacons being red and green as can be seen in this shot.

This is a Pierce ladder: most of Chicago's 49 ladder companies operate Pierce trucks just like this. The green lights on the right side were introduced in the 1930s by a Fire Commissioner who was a former naval officer and borrowed from ships' identification lights; he thought "port red. starboard green" would help make his fire trucks more distinctive.
