1976 near Rossett, Wrexham during the great drought. This city pump from Chester is over the border in Wales dealing with a field fire between Wrexham and Chester. see picture 24147 for more information on this machine.

Strictly speaking this machine was a Pump Ladder (300 gallon tank, one hose reel). Within the "new" Cheshire FB post April 74 it was called a Wrl for clarity only. Drove it hundreds of times at Chester, great machine, happy days!

Looks like it has smaller roof beacons in this picture than it does in picture 24147, were they changed for any reason?

The original large blue lights were damaged along with the front two feet of the roof, when the machine collided with a closing "up and over" engine house door at Chester Fire Stn. This occurred shortly after LGR (April 74.) The "Acorn" blues were the replacement (not the best) as they were fitted to most Cheshire machines at that time.
