All the other 3 carried chrome bumpers Peter, 2 ended up in the Med, Holywells in Madeira and Denbighs in Portugal. Bloody awful for lads to ride when on spare duties, rear facing seats made lads "car sick". The Bedford fitters van behind in Green too.

I think this was just a protective film over the chrome bumper Peter. I have a photo of the appliance with this 'black' bumper when newly delivered to Llangollen and another soon afterwards, by which time it had acquired a crest on the door and a chrome bumper.

My friend had a heavy goods repair business I can remember him telling me that one of the ERF think it was Llangollens was badly damaged in a front end collision. He had a contract with the previous transport officer Frank Lasker to undertake large repairs on the brigade’s fleet. He told me that he could repair the bumper but it would require re chroming the cost of the re chrome was nearly as much as a new bumper so he carried out the repair and re sprayed the bumper.
