Dennis, Leyland, and Fordson 1953
This photo comes from my late father. It shows some wonderful appliances from 'days gone by' finishing the job of putting out a roof fire at Glasgow Academy. It was about 1953 on a cold foggy day in winter.
I know that the TL was a Leyland Beaver and there is a Leyland limousine pump on the far left, along with two Dennis pump escapes and maybe a Fordson escape carrier.
Such a different world!

an outstanding picture of Glasgow Fire Service at work. my late uncle was a member of the GFS initially stationed at Central then over to Easterhouse where he ended his days there.

Thanks for all the comments which make the process of digging out these old photos worthwhile.
Stevie, it would be fabulous if your late uncle was in the photo. The first attendance would have been from North West fire station followed by North, Partick and Cranston Hill. However, if one of those stations was already on a job, Central may have sent an appliance. We shall never know.

Richard - The Fordson seems to be carrying suction hoses, suggesting that it too was a pump escape.
