Seeing double.. MPT741P MPT740P
Its probably not that common to have a matching pair of machines preserved and living in the same shed..?
Delivered to Durham County in 1976, both (and the later scrapped third of the bunch) were stationed at Durham. MPT 740P (mine) passed to Barnard Castle before being preserved in Durham and ending up in London before I got her back north in 2012. MPT 741P (Lloyd's) did a stint at Peterlee then ended its days at Crook.
They're the first batch from Dennis with the new cab and one of them was used for the Dennis promotional material. Fitted with a Rolls Royce B61 petrol engine and a syncro gearbox. They were also the last in Durham to have hydro vacuum brakes.

Mines got part of the body off.. Lloyds has the engine apart..

For a while in the late 70's they both served at Peterlee (N6) replacing RUP529M, WrHP and HPT782N, WrL. Another stable mate at the time was ET MPT743P, which appears to have faded into obscurity.
