Steyning Rapier W686 AORDennis Rapier /JDC WTL W686 AOR seen on the "launch Pad" outside Steyning Fire Station in West Sussex on February 16th 2013. This appliance went on the run at Steyning on September 5th 2000, replacing Dennis DS D555 DOR, and is due to be replaced later this year. This shot shows why a Scania will not fit in the appliance bay, especially with the slope which raises the rear of the appliance as it pulls out, so it will be a MAN replacing the Dennis, although the very helpful and friendly Firefighter who positioned 11P1 would much rather keep this Rapier which has served the village of Steyning well over the last 13 years, although so far 2013 has been a very quiet year for Station 11 in West Sussex. W686 AOR was one of the last batch of 4 Rapiers delivered to West Sussex, and the last on the run as 1st Away, W688 and W687 are still 2nd WTLs at Storrington & Petworth and W689 is at the Training Centre at Worthing.
