Glorious Duxford around 1986
Aerial shot of the memorable Duxford Fire Engine Rally.
Guess around 1986 or slightly later, as I can spot my dear late friends AFS A40 which was restored in 1986, the BAA 8X8 Kroneburg may also help date as it must have been new?
What an array of appliances, preserved, operational numerous Local Authority, Avaiation & Industrial !

It looks like one of the Kronenburg MAC 11 6x6 if that is the case they were N & P registered which means this photo was taken circa 95 / 96.

I think the last Duxford was around 1989/90 - I agree Colin a brilliant rally I attended as a punter on two or threee occassions but sadly never got an appliance there - look in the foreground at the white flatbed truck stacked full of kit for sale ! I think this would have been Cambridgeshires - as it was 'their patch'unfortunatly nowadays brigades dare not sell anything at events like this in case of 'an accident'

In fact it is 1987. You can see my photo at picture 21179 which puts the distinctive Cambridgeshire Ford Transit CIU next to the Essex Dennis in the foreground. Great rallies indeed and much missed. !986 was cloudy in my photos on this sute!

Hi Rick. Great to hear from you. Yes the flatbed was Cambridges` stores which had lots for sale. Can you imagine that now. And Peter your right too. Its 1987.

Not a bad guess for an old timer !!!!
Thought a Kronenburg was may be a little new for then and should of guessed another RAF appliance next to the famous Mk 9 which I remember seen one of the best bulled Green Mk9 there one year, it even made it suit that colour !

Brilliant photo Brett and it's certainly 1987 - that was the first time I'd taken my London Ford / Willowbrook CU7 to Duxford. You can just see it in the distance next to Malcolm Pedley's CU6.
Cambridgeshire appliances include their Stonefield RT (DEB 896V), Bedford WrCs (EEW 694C & D7509 KVA) and one of the brigade's strange CMC bodied Bedford TKs (SEG 806X).
The Mark 11 is 02 AY 12 next to Mark 9 (27 AJ 21). In the second row is London HCB-Angus built ERF PE (SMH 347F) - I don't think that has survived and for that matter I wonder how many of the appliances in the picture are still rallied today or even exist.
