This is a 1941 Ford V8 probably built by Darley as it appears to have their Darley Champion front mount pump.Powered by a flat head Ford engine with a four speed gearbox
A very effective but simple and low cost fire pumper. Everything needed for the basic job, but no frills or fancy add-ons.
Just about as conservative as the wartime units being built at the same time in Britain, for the same reasons. Economy, ease of construction, low cost, ability to be built in large numbers, but - still fire engine red!
