Fire Engines Photos

Apologies. When listed I identified this as a PPV fan unit. It is in fact a High Volume Fan unit (HVF) Paul.

I am a big fan of these trucks. Chicago Fire Department has an even bigger one!

Hi Rob, these are a very useful piece of kit. I have seen photographs of the Chicago vehicle.

Paul - I saw it in use at a fire in the basement of a bank building hi-rise in the Chicago Loop business district, two blocks from where I lived at the time. Although tackled with only two handlines, it was a very smokey job and required the attendance of around fifteen fire companies, the ventilation truck, two mask service units and an incident command unit. There were six or seven chief officers also on scene.

Some Austrian fire brigades that cover motorway tunnels have trailer mounted ones.
