Cleveland, NC L-45 Mack

The ultimate Tower of Power, a 1978 Mack/Baker Aerialscope. Originally FDNY (unk. company #)then to the Westbury, NY FD and now serving the Cleveland, NC VFD. I love the extra Bulldogs on the front stabilizers.

One of the brands I sold in the Middle East was Mack, and they really outshone EVERY other brand we sold and competed with, including the Germans and Swedes. Only after they were bought out by Renault did they lose their way, but the quality was still outstanding. When I lived on Long Island, dozens of volunteer fire companies still operated 20 or even 30 year old Macks. Such a pity the French management decided to drop out of the custom fire engine business.

And these FDNY Aerialscopes did (and still do) really work for their living!

Does anyone know where this truck is now? I know it was in a accident when Cleveland FD had it.
