Very stylish Buick limo. The rather basic box on the back and the ladders on the roof make it a fire engine.

Swiss fire companies made similar changes to other limousines in the 1930s, including Cadillacs and even a Rolls Royce.

I cannot imagine these were much use, except for very minor incidents, as I have never found any evidence that they had a pump or water tank.

Similar vehicles - on less costly chassis - were used in Italy during the 1930s too, but these had a neat and very compact front mounted pump, which took up no space, but probably made the steering a bit heavier.
