1930 Dennis Magirus TL - Ex Belfast
Seen here at auction in September 2004 at Hamberlins farm, this Tl new to Belfast Fire Brigade has never appeared in public again. Does anyone know it's fate? (Has it possibly appeared on ebay since then?) Only the first section of the ladder remains as it was left fully extended and elevated in high winds only to collapse onto a building. The radiator is badged 'Morris Magirus' as the ladder and fire fighting equipment was supplied by John Morris. Although built in 1930 it ran on solid tyres througout it's service life. CZ503.

I could do with just seeing it as it has original features mine has lost, so want to measure things. If its in Herts still can someone confirm/amend? Ta...

Fire brigades in the UK tended to be among the last to adopt pneumatic tires. The reason was that in cities and towns there were still a lot of deliveries being done by horse drawn wagons and carts.
Early commercial vehicle pneumatics were very prone to punctures, and the streets were often inevitably littered with cast-off horseshoe nails - which would flatten a tire in minutes or even cause a blow out!
