DIM stands for Detection, Investigation and monitoring I believe. it`s used for hazmat incidents.

DIM units are goverment provided as part of national recilliance but can be used by brigades.

In Tayside ours is based at Station 1 Blackness Road Dundee and if it's needed 2 senior officers take it out and a chemist is informed.

Andy: In fact there are 19 in England & Wales, 4 in Scotland, and 1 in Northern Ireland. In addition, there is an extra one in London which is not part of the New Dimension scheme.

In Tayside ours has been moved to Station 03 Balmossie and is now jumped crewed by the whole time pump.
