Left hand drive. Canceled order for the Oman training school. John Dennis bodywork and classed by the Imperial War Museum as a Foam Water Tender.

Andrew - Interesting that you say it's a cancelled Oman T/S order. I had been given to understand it had been a demomstrator that had its world tour cancelled.

According to Dennis' it was for the training school and carried JDC bodywork.

This vehicle is serviced and maintained by Essex workshops can confirm the bodywork is by Carmichael. According to the crews at Duxford it was indeed a cancelled order for Oman, apparently it's one of three of these style appliances.

I've just been doing a little reading up on the appliance in this discusion and its a 2002 Dennis Sabre/Carmichael Scorpion appliance and carries 4000(800 gallon)litres water and 400(88 gallons)litres foam with a 5300 l.p.m.(1166 gpm.)pump.

Almost all airfield fire trucks are all wheel drive, with enough ground clearance to go off the paved areas of the airport if needed.

That this unit was placed in service at Duxford suggests it was probably purchased at a sizeable discount, as it was only marginally fit for purpose. I hope that it was presumably a backup unit to one or more dedicated airfield crash pumps, in addition to the Range Rover in the photo.
