South Wales road/rail unitOne of two appliances supplied to South Wales Fire and Rescue Service by Network Rail this 2001 Unimog U1650 with rail equipment fitted by Two Way Engineering is intended for use at incidents in the 4 mile long Severn tunnel. Whilst still carrying the station name of Caldicot the vehicle is now operational from Maindee, Newport.
The second, larger (Volvo FL6) road rail unit is based at Malpas in Newport.
Avon Fire and Rescue Service also operate two road rail units to allow for dual approach along the tunnel to incidents.
