This 1959 Gamecock was built in the UK by Carmichael. It was delivered to the Brunner brigade who did not have the funds to pay for the appliance and accordingly a brigade member provided a loan. It is now privately owned.

This rather nice livery predates the current New Zealand décor, which combines stipes, chevrons and seven different colors with the result that their trucks now look like they belong to a circus...

I often wonder if any real research goes into these decisions. If it does, then it is rather amazing that scores of different countries - and scores of different brigades in some countries - have arrived at quite different conclusions about what colors and designs are best!
