Number 1 is a custom chassis KME (Kovatch Mobile Equipment) engine, while Number 2 was built by Pierce on a Freighliner double cab conventional chassis. They probably have similar capacities and capabilities. The Freightliner commercial truck chassis is a relatively high volume product and is therefore less expensive than a custom Pierce chassis.
