New Zealand Dennis - PQ3717

This F24 is believed to be the only survivor of three to enter service in New Zealand. It served the Wellington area & was initially allocated to a very small fire station necessitating a rather unusual solution which will be seen from a separate rear view. This appliance is now being restored and is in private ownership.

Hi David, I only have two Dennis F24's listed in New Zealand. Do you know what the reg of the 3rd was and what years they were built.

There were only 2 F24's in New Zealand. This one which is a development of the 5 F8's (Rum 966 etc) supplied to Leeds with both well and inside seating, no rear doors for the crew and and the second being a conventional PE with midship pump.

Yes, there were indeed only two F24 jpbs. both of which were with Wellington.
Dunedin also had an F25 - the only real difference 'twixt the F24 & F25 being that the F25 was Dodge powered.

I have EQ 4647 (Wanganui), EU 3524 (Wellington) & EU 3531 (Wellington).

Not so, David. EQ 4647 was an F28, as was EQ 4648.
Chassis numbers for the two were 181/F28A2 and 102/F28A2 respectively.

Hmmm, yes I have confirmed after reading the Wanganui 125th jubilee book. Have amended my records accordingly.

Was EU 3531 an F36 ??

As long as we've got it sorted out, David, that's the main thing.

As far as I am aware no F36 served in NZ
