You have to travel to the other side of the World if you want to see a TK with a mid mounted pump.

Our Kiwi friends adopted a combination of UK and US design features for decades, after buying all their appliances from both countries since WW I, so mid mount British chassis pumps were still a common sight well into the seventies.

Another design element copied from US practice is the idea of loading flaked hoses in to the lockers behind the rear wheels, accessed from the rear. These could be paid out very quickly and were often already coupled together.
