Also it's not my ground as with Teesside & Cleveland are. One thing I did notice when on holiday or visiting friend's over there. I found that nearly all there Front Line Machine's ran with a DALE STEM-LIGHT System fitted to the rear of there wagon's just above the pump bay.on the ladder gantry.Great idea it helped light up the back end of the trucks as well as the lad's at the back end as there fire kit had no day glow stripes on them back in them days. Plus the STEM-LIGHTS back then were a great tool loved by many many fire fighters, police & recovery teams all over the UK..
Yes, HCB-Angus is perfectly correct. DPY 592/593V were two short wheelbase jobs.

Hi Dave. It was standard to fit the Stem Light in North Yorkshire on pumping appliances for many years. Some of the earlier Bedfords with CFE bodywork had the Stem Light fitted on the cab at the front, and the Dennis ET's had then too. They were superb lights and gave great Illumination over and around the appliances.
Ian - did these compact TK-HCBs have a full 400 gallon tank, or something smaller? I imagine the compact dimensions were probably specified mainly for city work in York's rather narrow streets?
Best machines ever run by the brigade rarely went wrong and fitted down the narrow streets of York, perfect for the job esp compared to the rubbish the brigade uses now.

When I worked at Ford, it was a lot easier to sell D series to brigades which operated Commers than to displace the very popular TKs, and the were also much loved in many other countries by fire services.
