Hell...elf and safety would go mad now! No PPE no helmet....no-one footing the ladder....the good old days, we would probably need an ALP nowadays hehe

Looks like a common practice of the Tyne & Wear Brigade to use the big ladder for a low wall and the smaller ladder for accessing the Roof? Or was there a sudden change in plan for reaching the roof line, who could tell?

I would say the second suggestion Sean....you could stride that boundary wall

Or you have to take one off to get at the other?

They won't have needed to take the the 10.5m off to get to either of the other ladders in use.
Its probably that they were going to use the 10.5 and couldn't get the angle correct or it didn't feel safe due to the wall.

I suspect the bus shelter got in the way of pitching the 9m ladder so triple extension was more user friendly, or it could be a Northern thing to confuse us Southerners with their choice of ladder use. Over to you.

Chimney fires, a firemans pet hate in my time, so many near-misses when the brickwork came away just as you became complacent in the innocent domestic surroundings, and your partner goes flying towards the roof edge, , , , !!??

The chimney they are working on is clear of the bus shelter, so I don't reckon that was the issue, I think it's as mentioned earlier - a change of plan!
