I've always wondered what the patches on either side of "Ladder 62" mean - can anyone elaborate on that?

If I could see a close-up of insignia I might be able to identify what it means.But you must realise this appliance(rig)is not an FDNY apparatus-its only used for the making of the television series"Rescue Me".The FDNY generally only use Seagrave,and have done for many years.
Every Engine Co/Ladder Co in the FDNY has it own insignia,also the Squads/Rescue's/Haz-Mat,etc.
Try and explain exactly what you want to know,and I will try and answer your question but can't do so until I know whats on that patch.

Not to worry Pete - I watched an episode of RM and the patch is a red Maltese cross outlined in yellow with "FD" in the top arch, "NY" in the bottom arch, "E99" on the left and "L62" on the right. In the middle is a Leprechaun wearing boxing attire and boxing gloves.

Hi, I've seen the patch, too. It's in episode 7, season 1. Does anyone know if there is any connection to an authentic patch that is used in the FDNY?

the Season 6 Pierce Ladder is now at her new home in Indianapolis IN. still wearing her TV show markings. she will be put into active service pending the installation of all of her new Motorola communication gear!

I hate to say it but we would never see this truck in full service for FDNY.Pierce has obviously not done there job if the FDNY only wants one rescue hick they are replacing in awhile, so I wouldn't think you would see 62 on NY streets.

FDNY is replacing all 5 heavy rescues, and a number of rear-mount ladders (maybe 20) with Ferrara products. YouTube has some videos of these.
