Ford Cargo Beavertail, ECFRS

Taken on 6th September 2011, this beavertail recovery vehicle of the Essex Fire and Rescue Service must be getting on for one of the oldest fire service vehicles still in service in the UK. It is used by the Service's workshops based near Colchester for the recovery of light vehicles and staff cars. It was parked in the yard at Grays Fire Station on a very wet and windy day. It looks as though its amber beacon has had a bit of a moment!

Yes, but don't forget that it's a conversion to a beavertail. This was originally a convential flatbed job with an aluminium body thereon, and was their hose layer prior to the guise in which it is seen here.

Cheers in advance ALAN
