I've got a feeling this appliance was converted by Devon fire Brigade workshops to carry a wheeled escape ladder. But I don't know that it ever did. It ended service being used as Exeter's third pump. Crewed by Exeter retained.
This appliance was delivered new to Exeter City Fire Brigade equipped to carry a wheeled escape, but it never saw service as a Pump Escape.

Steve ......A very nice picture of the ex City of Exeter Devon F49 that I purchased in a very poor condition at the Passeys auction in Oxfordshire more than 25 years ago. Since then it has been moved about and has been vandalised but I am pleased to say that it is now under cover in the Emergency Services Museum store near Sheffield. It will, when finances allow, been fully restored to its Devon condition as it is not feasible to put it back in its original condition as Devon rebuilt the back end after an RTC. Steve .. take care and look after yourself.
I was the first person to drive 525k to a shout I was on white watch Exeter at the time, the officer in charge on the day was Stn o mick munro. It carried a lacon ladder.
