Ex-Glasgow - PE - 74 CGD (as BdL)

Further to the Firemaster saga, here's 74 CGD after it left service and was converted into a BdL for a garage (which from memory I think was at Motherwell, (but don't quote me there !)

That was a great shame although they seem to have made a good job of it !

Ian - I can't believe this image has turned up, I've been searching for years trying to find out what happened to this appliance. Thank you for posting it. :-)

It's a crying shame what's happened to this wonderful appliance. The Firemaster ET from Manchester has been painted blue by all accounts and converted into a mobile home? Why oh why can't appliances like these be saved for the people to see? D999TFY, the first Volvo Fl6.18/F+W WrL in the Country is looking dilapidated inside Johnstown Fire station whilst the NWF&RS TM decides weather to crush it or not along with everything else that leaves service.

Andy, have you got pics of D999TFY ? I have some of its present state but dont really want to post them. I was surprised to see its Central div kitted spare inventory lists still in lockers. Possibly a job for heritage lottery fund?

In the early 1970's I remember this appliance returning from a large fire in a timber-built school on Maryhill Rd in Glasgow with the paint on one side of its bodywork burned off after being parked too close to the fire. Even its blue light cover had completely melted around its rotating reflector - the Station Officer was so not a happy man.

Yes, I have D999TFY at Deeside not long after delivery, St Asaph after re allocation and Rhyl in NWFS livery.

Did she run out of St Asaph prior to stripework being applied?

Yes she did. Picture will be added soon Gary.
