Do you know much about this appliance? Do you know what the electrical equipment on the roof is? Do you know what other safety equipment it carries?

Thanks, Monkey

Sorry Monkey Boy, I can't help you,
but I send an e-mail to the Fire Department of Bree for more details.

It's a Rapid Rescue unit. The thing on the roof are the lights to illuminate the incident. Inside I guess the jaws of life and other rescue equipment.
Thank you Anton for your help with sending a e-mail to the Fire brigade in Bree.

Thank you both for your help.

I had noticed the two structures on the roof that looked like high voltage insulation like the rows of ceramic disks you sometimes see, I could not believe my eyes as this made me think that this van may have some sort of pantograph fitted.

I am sure I am looking at this picture with slightly confused eyes as the need for such a thing or for any high voltage equipment has me completely baffled.

If anyone can add further clarity to the already helpful chaps above then please please do.

Thanks, Monkey.

Maybe its used to "jack on" to existing power lines in the street, and then used to power the lights and rescue equipment?

On the roof is a part of the retractable mast light.
It is also an orange signalling lamp equipped on this mast and an isolated protection.
This is mounted on the one hand contact with electrical cables to avoid when sliding of the mast and on the other hand, useful for lifting up of electrical lines above e.g. tram/ train tracks.
The vehicle is the former rapid assistance car of the fire brigade City of Bree in road accidents. Currently has this vehicle a logistics and support function in traffic accidents, HAZMAT suit team, emptying cellars and small technical interventions.
Info; Thanks to Mr. O/Lt Koen Maes of the Fire Department City of Bree, Belgium.
