Although practice does vary, this unit us typically crewed by a station watch manager, a driver and an aide. It responds to all potentially serious fire and related incidents along with two pumpers, an aerial and an ambulance.

In the event of an accident, rescue, hazmat incident or other alarm it will respond with various appropriate special purpose trucks, containers and/or trailers, with or without the standard firefighting units.

The "Zug", which can be loosely translated as a platoon, normally has around sixteen to eighteen members, depending on whether it includes its own ambulance.
