Unusual four way collecting head. These were 750 IGPM pumps, so it does not say much for hydrant capacity in London's streets!

Just a standard LFB collecting head in use from the first Dodge Pumps in the early 80's through to these Volvo's and the MK1 Atego's.
All pumps now have three deliveries and a two way collecting head.
A far cry from six deliveries on the F101's, AEC Regents and certain Dennis F106's.

Kyle: I think the pumps you mention had six deliveries because they had pump panels with intakes and three outlets on each side, so they could operate the pump without slipping the wheeled escape ladders they were all designed to carry back then.

So they seem to have almost always had the pump operator run the pump from whichever side control panel was convenient, with a three way collecting head and three deliveries. These pumps were rated at 850, 900 or 1, 000 IGPM, so they would all be only a bit higher capacity than the current ones.

I have seen London's older pumps in action - and in photos and videos - quite a few times, but I have never seen them being operated with deliveries being used from both sides, so I think it must have been a pretty rare thing to have happen....
