Barry Please will you advise or help as I, have seen your name in these columns before. Grampian have adopted a total white livery as displayed for their fire appliance pumping fleet. I thought I saw an "R" registration new style Scania (not the old style) in dayglow weidenfeld livery is this my being confused, as I don't know where I saw this please don't be confused with the very early example they are running possibly by the cadets am I, right Barry or is this my imagination I have not seen any in this forum?
Hi Bob, Im pleased to say you are not confused. The appliance you speak about is R39 KRS and it is indeed red, a rare site in Grampian! This appliance was delivered to Grampian in approx 1998 and was used for driver training as this is when the new style of Scanias was starting to be used. When the operational appliances started to go on the run they were white but R39 KRS remained red and in driver training. Eventually this appliance went to a retained station in Kintore in Aberdeenshire and run as 761. It remained at this station for a number of years until fairly recently where it came back home to do driver training again and can be seen running about Aberdeen donig EFAD training. Also im pleased to say its still red. The Kintore crew kept good care of her! I will try and get of a picture of her at some point and put it up on the site. Hope this helps. Barry.
