Is this truck still in service? I notice it still has the old French yellow headlights.

Has been a MAN daughter from 1936 on. With a few years intterruption after the war.

Is this not an MAN Cab and chassis with Saviem bodywork?

No, Saviem was a truck chassis builder, not a body builder. At this time Saviem built their own chassis, but bought cabs for their heavier trucks either direct from MAN - or perhaps from the same supplier to MAN. Later, the company was bought by Renault and the Saviem brand disappeared.
