This fire truck seen here at the rescue center of Paris-Malar's throw from the Eiffel Tower, is a legacy gear. His replacement is scheduled for early 2012.
Unique French solution to combining the functions of an emergency ambulance with a light pumper. These ugly but compact trucks carry a crew of five, hosereel, water tank, ladders and a full load of medical equipment, including a stretcher.
Agreed, Lambert. BSPP operate over 100 of them and are continually upgrading the design to add more capability, including CAFS on the newest series. Our friends in other countries should also note the hook ladder. This is still standard on all Paris' pumpers, and they are used very often. Two rescues as recently as this month were carried out using hook ladders!
