In 1982, new Pump Escapes were a rarity and the East Sussex Fire Brigade commissioned(WCD 783Y)the model featured on the right of this picture.It was a Dennis RS133 PE and went on the run at Preston Circus Fire Station in Brighton.Its sister appliance was registered WCD 782Y and that appliance went on the run at Brighton's other station at Roedean.
The ESFB were one of the last 2 brigades in the United Kingdom to use pump escapes, the other brigade being Hertsfordshire.
