You're right its a brilliant pic ! as you say 'almost' timeless - the only giveaway is by the arm and leg at the rear in modern fire kit !!

This appliance was found in a derelict state by a Mr Barry Lambert who spent a lot of money and time in restoring it to its original condition as with all work done by Barry his work is first class and immaculate he was also responsible for the restoration of Land Rover 3992/1 PX seen on this site was was also done beautifully with pride and care to attention and detail.

Great picture John, she really does need a coat of paint though, but she is fifty years old now.
This Bedford J5 was allocated to Steyning when new back in 1961, the very same year that the present station was officially opened.Its hoped this year that Steyning will be holding an Open Day and that this appliance can attend to mark the stations 50th anniversary.
It certainly will be a nice chance to get that classic picture one didn't get a chance to get way back fifty years ago.
