Thornycroft Nubian Crash Tender

"Queen Eleanor" - The engine of the Geddington Volunteer Fire Brigade. The GVFB purchased the tender from British Aerospace in 1980 and she is maintained in full working order. The Queen Eleanor is used annually for "the Squirt" in the ford by Geddington Bridge.

There was a similar one at Filton, but it was not this one.

We believe this appliance served as a crash tender at various airfields including Hawker Siddeley, Bitteswell and Lutterworth.

Norman this is similar to the Mkv think this has a Rolls Royce B80 engine just like our RAF MkV's mate

No not a Mk5, it is similar, but the bodywork is different.
