One of many, but very special! Grimsby's F12
My appeals for information regarding the fate of this Dennis F12(DEE 109) have unfortunately yielded nothing thus far. So I put this picture up, with a certain self indulgence. She was the very first "modern" appliance I feasted my young eyes on after WW2 and what an impression she made on me! Delivered to the Grimsby Brigade in 1952 she served for some 18?years(Could anyone tell me the date of final withdrawal?)as a PE, then later as PST/ET. I shall never forget the thrilling purr of that Rolls engine that day she was started up especially for me in the appliance bay at Chelmsford Avenue! Pure nostalgia! Photo 1965.

I get it too! Darlington had one (PHN 999) of about the same vintage, which also served for around twenty years before going into reserve status, when it was replaced by an ERF - Perkins V8 - HCB Angus pump escape.
To my mind, the F12 is THE classic British postwar fire engine. I am particularly pleased that Grimsby bought a red one, unlike so many of their later unpainted appliances...(of which I was never a fan!)
