Are these replacing the Pinzgauers? From the look of it I think I would stick with the 6x4.especially on the side of a fell. I wonder how it would behave in the Beddgellert Forest.

They look very top heavy compared to Landrovers (Staffs L4P for example) I heard Chirk was getting one Andy is that true? Pinzgauers seem better suited. Take it they will carry BA etc.

This is the one at the back of Rhyl. Unfortunatly, the days of helpful transport managers have long gone in North Wales, so I can't help with allocations. No their not replacing the Pinzgauers but Land Rovers and Transits at Chirk, Corwen, Conwy, Abergele, Llangefni, Amlwch I am led to believe.

Have any of these gone into service yet ? Passed the workshops at Llandudno Jct the other afternoon & you could see some transits parked on the yard. Have also been passing Corwen quite often this last couple of weeks & have noticed that their landrover has been missing ? Also one of the Bremach's is meant to be replacing the Renault at Llangollen ?

The 1st of Cumbrias are supposed to be going on the run this month. One of these is going to Keswick as their only "Major" appliance. Used to be a 2 pump station.

I passed Cumbria workshops on the train 26/03/11 and they had a couple of Merc's compact water tenders facing the rail line any idea were they are fore??

BBC News NE Wales reporting that the Six Bremach's have been withdrawn from service because of fuel leak problems. Apparently the Llangefni appliance caught fire. Have been returned to manufacturer for modifications, due to return at the end of June. Not a good start!

The transits, Landys and Llangollens Renault were all at W/S first week in May in the Yard, one Bremach also "fell over" during trials, the crew doors have a nasty habit of opening on their own too

The MOD also has had a Bremach that fell over during trials / training I think all of the 5 they have are now withdrawn can anyone confirm this.

Six new fire trucks have been withdrawn from service by NWF&R, after one caught fire,
The Bremach appliances which are designed to help fire fighters, navigate areas of difficult terrain, were withdrawn after one ignited by fuel igniting from it's tank, at Llangefni on May 11th.

Any news on Gogledd Cymru's Bremachs yet? The end of June is quite a while ago now. What about Pinzgauers as an alternative? The Gwynedd crews seem to like theirs.

There is a piece of video I think on YouTube of West Midlands Bremach turning out and there is very little rubber in contact with the road on one side as it corners. I have seen Porthmadogs Pinzgaur on the bell come off the cob and round the corner at Boston Lodge like an F1 car!
I also have a slide of Hull Centrals PHP coming round Queen Victoria with a 10 degree list, the driver was obviously used to it but it looked horrible.

I was past the back of Angloco on the train today and what could have been the MOD ones were parked up. It was only a fleeting glance so I can't be sure.

I have put a video on Youtube of the Bremach turning out in the West Mids, and I thought it was going over! The crews arent particularly impressed with it and also claim riding to a shout in it, is like sitting ontop of jelly!

Bremachs were reviewed by Malaysia for military and for Tropic Forest Fire Fighting purposes. They were rejected as having a narrow wheelbase and too top heavy for mobility on dirt tracks and hilly terrain. On roads they could not go at top speed either as their cornering ability was dangerous. Thus I find it amazing that they were even taken on for an urban/rural purpose in Wales with even windier roads and hilly terrain. Weren't trials even done before purchase?

I have just seen four of these Bremach's up for sale. They are the ex MOD models and have only done 1300km! Is this another example of the 'bean counters' being proved wrong again, just like the CARP fiasco? Best value, I don't think so!!
